Does coffee help you lose weight, have you ever asked yourself this question? If you have than you’ve come to the right place! I personally suggest drinking coffee while dieting to lose weight. Keep reading and find out why!
Coffee contains an ingredients called Caffeine, which is a compound that stimulants the central nervous system. There are two main reasons why caffeine helps you lose weight. They are:
- Boosting your bodies metabolism: consuming caffeine causes your body to release fatty acids into your bloodstream, also known as lipolysis. This basically means your body is breaking down your fat storage and converting it into energy. So by consuming caffeine your metabolism will increase.
- The erotic energy boost: One thing you must realize is that caffeine is a stimulant. What does this mean? It means you can perform your usual tasks with way more energy. Lacking energy for a workout? Caffeine will help you break past your workouts. To lazy to do cardio? Caffeine will get you on the treadmill.
So caffeine is a great supplement to aid your weight loss efforts (1). If you’re naturally lazy like myself, than caffeine is perfect for you.
Caffeine is great and all but how much do I need
Everyone’s tolerance its different so its hard to tell. Some people can drink one cup of coffee and feel the effects for hours. Others can drink three 3 cups of coffee and see no effect. According to google one cup of coffee usually contains around 94.8 milligrams of caffeine (2).
Caffeine pills usually come in 100 milligrams to 200 milligrams. Starting of with one cup of coffee (which is around 100 milligrams) is a great way to test your tolerance. If you don’t drink coffee here are other alternate sources:
- Any form of tea
- Energy drinks
- Caffeine pills
- Soft drinks
- Chocolate bars
Is too much caffeine bad
Taking too much caffeine can make you feel jittery and will increase your heart rate. Also you have to realize that caffeine is indeed a drug. I haven’t experienced it myself, but many people experience withdrawals when they stop consuming caffeine.
According to google an adult can consume up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day with no adverse side effects. This is around four cups of coffee which is more than enough.
Coffee and caffeine drinks are expensive!
I don’t know about you guys but I’m too poor to spend two hundred dollars on a coffee machine. When I was dieting, I would easily spend ten dollars per day on energy drinks and coffee from McDonald’s or Starbucks.
It can rack up quick and it’s not a good feeling. A good alternative is purchasing a bottle of caffeine pills instead. It costs around five dollars but will last you up to five weeks!
